The Port of Rotterdam has seen a 2% increase in container throughput to 3.3m teu for the first three months of this year but remained cautious about the market recovering due to the uncertainty caused by the Red Sea shipping crisis.
Throughput in tonnes grew by 3% to 32.5m tonnes but the situation in the Red Sea meant that 25% fewer ships visited the port and 14% less volumes from Asia in January and February due to delays and missed sailings.
However, the situation is now under control as 12% more ships arrived and volumes from Asia recovered in March.
