Porto Itapoá has inaugurated the third expansion phase of its terminal, concluding an investment of R$815m (US$160m), which enables it to handle up to 2m teu per year.
The expansion means Porto Itapoá now operates one of the largest container yards in Brazil with an area of 455,000 sq m.
Included within the port’s investments are the expansion of berths and the acquisition of large equipment such as South America’s first remotely controlled hybrid rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes.
