The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) has seen its container volumes increased by 19% to 133,845 teu in the third quarter of the fiscal year 2024, representing a record quarter not seen since the supply chain issues in 2021.
Throughput efficiency remains high at the port as containerised import volumes have risen and Port NOLA’s investment in four new ship-to-shore (STS) cranes.
During the third quarter, loaded exports rose by 16% and the top import commodities included coffee, mainly from South America and Southeast Asia, various chemicals from Mexico and North Europe, as well as wood products such as plywood from Asia and South America.
