Dublin Port Company (DPC) has announced the decision to relocate the development of Ireland’s largest container terminal facility, part of the port’s 3FM Project, following concerns expressed by residents during a consultation period.
The proposed 15 ha container yard was planned to be built in front of the ESB Poolbeg power station, next to Sandymount’s UNESCO protected beach.
The terminal at the south of the port would have been 15 acres with containers stacked three levels high and the ability to handle 353,000 teu annually.
