UK port operator Peel Ports Group and ship charging facilities developer NatPower Marine have announced plans to establish what they called the first green shipping corridor between the UK and Ireland.
As part of the project, NatPower Group’s NatPower Marine would be developing the UK’s first commercial electric ship (e-ship) charging network to support electric propulsion and cold ironing.
The network, which would require an estimated £100m (US$127m) investment from NatPower Marine, would see the new e-ship charging infrastructure delivered across all eight ports operated by Peel Ports Group in the UK and Ireland.
