Hamburg Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has put the first two Volvo FH electric trucks into operation at its in-house freight forwarder Container-Transport-Dienst (CTD), which will use the vehicles for container transfers in the Port of Hamburg and subject them to extensive testing.
The trucks can cover 260-340 km when fully loaded and are fitted with a 540 kWH battery with a maximum charge capacity of 250 kwH, initially being charged using public charging infrastructure.
As part of the testing, data will be gathered to provide HHLA with insights for the potential purchases of further e-trucks, such as the efficient use of trucks at the port and execution of charging cycles.
