The Panama Canal has announced that the number of daily transits will increase from 32 to 33, effective from July 11, and rise further to 34 as of July 22.
The rise is attributed to the projected level of the Gatun Lake for the coming weeks and the arrival of the rainy season in the Panama Canal Watershed.
With these changes, by July 22, the Canal will have added two transits to the current schedule, one to the Panamax locks and one to the neo-Panamax locks, which will increase the transits to 25 and 9 for both locks.
