The Zero Emission Port Alliance (ZEPA) has announced the onboarding of 11 organisations from the container port industry with the aim of accelerating the adoption of battery-electric container handling equipment (BE-CHE) making it affordable and accessible within this decade.
In addition to APM Terminals and DP World, which launched the alliance in December, ZEPA includes CATL, Kempower, Patrick Terminals, Port of Aarhus, Port of Rotterdam, Rocsys, Sany, SSA Marine, and ZPMC.
The members of ZEPA, which held its Steering Committee’s first meeting at TOC Europe in Rotterdam, highlighted their membership as a key priority in their efforts to reduce emissions and bring forward the total cost of ownership parity of battery-electric equipment with diesel.
