APM Terminals (APMT) Lazaro Cardenas has welcomed the maiden call of Hapag-Lloyd’s East Coast 2 service, the UMM SALAL, which was carrying cargo for North American importers, using the terminal’s location and capacity and driven by nearshoring and the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USTR).
The EC2 service consists of 12 vessels with a nominal capacity of 13,470 teu, 366 m in length, and 141,077 gross registered tonnage, with all vessels operated by Hapag-Lloyd.
Lazaro Cardenas is the only location on the Mexican Pacific that will receive vessels from the service and the first call after leaving Asia.
