Busan New Container Terminal (BNCT) has successfully performed the first simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering and containership cargo loading and unloading in Korea on August 8 at Busan New Port Pier 5.
The Blue Whale LNG bunkering vessel berthed alongside CMA CGM VISBY, which was berthed at Berth 1 of BNCT, and supplied about 270 tonnes of LNG by the ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering service.
Simultaneously performing LNG bunkering operations with port loading and unloading operations is a core competitiveness of the project as it saves additional berthing time and costs in ports.
