APM Terminals (APMT) has welcomed Maersk’s green methanol-enabled container ship – the Alette Maersk – to Los Angeles’ Pier 400.
The terminal – one of eight APMT locations globally taking part in an electrification part – is exploring the best use of technology and state-of-the-art electric container handling equipment operations to reach the group’s 2040 net zero.
In September, APMT Pier 400 will receive two new full electric Auto Straddle Carriers and begin pilot work with its International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) workforce to retrofit two hybrid Auto Straddle Carriers to become fully electric.
