APM Terminals (APMT) has inaugurated the completion of a US$115m upgrade project at West Africa Container Terminal in the Port of Onne, Nigeria, which has included extensive yard expansion, state-of-the-art equipment acquisition and a modern office complex.
New mobile harbour cranes (MHCs), rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) and advanced cargo handling equipment (CHE) will reduce turnaround time at the terminal and a superior operating model will improve efficiency at the quay, yard and gate.
The investment will introduce an auto gate system and advanced data system, lifting WACT’s operational efficiency to a new standard, and the self-service kiosks have been upgraded to elevate customer experience.
