Hutchison Ports ECT Rotterdam (ECT) has made an agreement with Shore Power (RSP) to equip its terminals with shore power facilities in the coming years.
The first vessels are expected to be connected to the shore power facilities in 2028 and, once the facilities are fully operational at both terminals in 2030, around 5,000 sea-going vessels will be able to be connected to shore power annually.
ECT expects that this will reduce the port’s CO2 emissions by around 35,000 tonnes a year.
