The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) have reached a tentative agreement on wages and agreed to extend the Master Contract until January 15, 2025, to return to the bargaining table to negotiate all other outstanding issues, ending strike action by dockworkers on the US East and Gulf Coasts.
A joint statement noted that this was effective immediately and all current job actions will cease, and all work covered by the Master Contract will resume.
Port Houston reopened its Bayport and Barbours Cut container terminals on October 4 with gate hours from 1pm-8pm, with ingates closing at 7pm, and no reefers would be accepted after 5pm.
