DP World London Gateway has inaugurated its fourth and the world’s first electric berth with the arrival of the first ships including the MSC Sena.
The vessel was serviced by an all-electric fleet of vehicles and equipment, including four of Europe’s largest quay cranes, straddle carriers and automatic stacking cranes (ASCs).
The new 430 m berth will increase trading capacity at the container port by more than a third, strengthening customer supply chains with enhanced global connectivity, increased reliability and quicker turnaround times, DP World noted.
