Suez Canal Container Terminal (SCCT) has reached a significant milestone in its expansion project with the delivery of four ZPMC super post-Panamax quay cranes and six electric rubber-tyred gantry cranes (eRTGs), delivered by the Zhenhua 35 vessel in November.
The quay cranes have a 72 m boom outreach and are engineered to handle twin 65 tonne containers and heavy lifts of up to 100 tonnes while the eRTGs are equipped with state-of-the-art automation and remote-control features.
Keld Mosgaard Christensen, SCCT CEO, expresses his pleasure with this delivery, stating that the new ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and eRTGs are not merely technological upgrades but symbolise a commitment to enhancing capabilities and meeting the demands of a rapidly evolving industry.
