NWSA increases annual container volumes by 12% to 3.3m teu

The Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) has recorded a 12% increase in annual container volumes to 3.3m teu due to improved vessel consistency and increased vessel calls as full imports rose by 20% and full exports grew by 8% in 2024. 

Domestic container volumes declined by 1% year-on-year and Hawaii volumes decreased by 6% while Alaska volumes increased negligibly. 

For the month of December 2024, container volumes increased by 16% to 304,748 as total international volumes grew by 20% and full international import volume rose by 34% but full international exports decreased by 3%.
