The Egyptian ministry of transport has announced that the Damietta Alliance, a consortium that includes Eurogate, Contship and Hapag-Lloyd, has begun superstructure works at the Tahya Misr 1 Container Terminal, which will have a capacity of 3.5m teu once fully operational, in Damietta Port.
The terminal recently received five state-of-the-art quay cranes dedicated to container handling with the first batch of 12 cranes set to arrive in phases.
The HHMC quay cranes are among the most sophisticated in the world and are expected to significantly improve the efficiency and speed of loading and unloading operations, enhancing the terminal’s overall performance.
