HHLA’s Container Terminal Altenwerder to become digital test field for 5G network
Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG’s (HHLA) Container Terminal Altenwerder (CTA) has received funding from the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) to establish a 5G network on its site as part of the DigiTest initiative.
The aim of this pilot project is to set up a digital testing ground on the terminal where new application scenarios can be trialled, which is intended to further boost the efficiency of logistics processes.
It has a funding volume of approximately €2.3m (US$2.5m) and will run until mid-2026, with the network due to be set up over the coming months.
