An almost 5% increase year-on-year in container throughput in Q1 2025 has helped to restrict a downturn for the Port of Antwerp-Bruges.
The Port of Antwerp-Bruges was able to see a rise in teu volume despite geopolitical uncertainties and container alliance restructuring, in addition to increasing its market share in the Hamburg-Le Havre range to nearly 31% in 2024.
However, the transition to the new alliances and strikes and congestion at other ports did result in longer container dwell times and put increased pressure on terminal capacity.
