Pacific International Lines (PIL) has named its first 8,200 teu liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel containership as Kota Oasis.
The container vessel is the first in a series of four LNG dual-fuel containerships of that capacity – designated as ‘O’ class – ordered from Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, which are part of PIL’s long-term plan to optimise its network deployment and renew its fleet for greater operational efficiency and increased sustainability.
PIL’s ‘O’ class vessels can use greener bio-methane fuels and are equipped with Win-GD’s XDF engines with Intelligent Control by Exhaust Recycling (iCER), which significantly reduce methane emissions.
