International Transportation Service (ITS) broke ground on a US$365m terminal expansion project at the Port of Long Beach, which is aimed at developing more space to stack cargo containers and maximise efficiency.
By filling an unneeded slip in the middle of the Pier G terminal, the project will create 19 acres of new land and ITS will also build a single, continuous wharf measuring 3,400 ft that will allow it to simultaneously host two of the industry’s largest cargo ships.
Long Beach mayor Rex Richardson said: “ITS has been a trusted tenant for half a century, so the company’s leaders know the Port of Long Beach is a good bet.
