Port Houston achieves 18% increase in container volumes in October

Port Houston has achieved an 18% increase in container volumes to 365,773 teu in October, putting the total container throughput for the year up by 6% compared to last year. 

Additionally, the public terminals reached 4.6m short tonnes, up by 12% for the month and 6% year-to-date. 

Loaded exports continued to surge in October, up 42% for the month and 10% year-to-date, driven by Houston’s dynamic petrochemical and manufacturing sectors, and loaded imports increased by 8% in October and are up 3% so far this year.
