Van Dieren Maritime launches new rail service

This service is fully integrated within the company’s network that extends as far north as Luleå (Sweden) and Mo i Rana (Norway) and south to Le Boulou on the French/Spanish border and Melzo and Verona in Italy. It also provides a connection between Herne and Istanbul.

The city of Herne in North Rhine-Westphalia is strategically located to serve a substantial industrial customer base and a large consumer population. Nässjö is sited at the intersection of several key Swedish rail routes, which has led to the development of a number of significant businesses in the region.

The so-called ‘combi train’ will cater for both 45ft palletwide containers, including curtain-siders and Huckepack (mega) trailers, along with reefer containers and steel coil trailers. Using the same locomotive through from Herne to Nässjö (and vice versa) guarantees a 15 hour overnight transit time.
