Bolloré Africa Logistics is said to be looking with interest at running the second container terminal in the Port of Mombasa, should the Kenyan government call for private tenders.
The Kenya Port Authority (KPA), which is currently constructing the facility, has indicated that it would seek a concessionaire once the facility is completed; as a result other unnamed port operators have also indicated their interest, according to local news reports.
The Port of Mombasa, which is key to the region for imports and exports from the Eastern Africa, has been plagued by delays resulting in trade being routed through the Port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
