Qatar awards NPP contracts

When complete the new port will handle 6m teu

According to local media reports, Qatar has awarded contracts worth up to QAR14bn (US$3.8bn) for the construction of a new container port in Mesaieed, south of the capital Doha, as part of the county’s New Port Project (NPP).

More than 50% of the contracts have been awarded to national contractors, according to the country’s transport minister.

“Qatari companies have won 53% of the contracts or around QAR8.2bn (US$2.24bn),” Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti told Qatar’s Al Raya, the local Arabic language daily newspaper.
