German shipping company Hamburg Süd has entered the east-west trade through signing a “global co-operation agreement” with United Arab Shipping Company (UASC).
The two shipping companies, the world’s 11th and 18th biggest respectively according to Alphaliner, have agreed a slot-exchange which will give Hamburg Süd slots on several UASC routes.
Specifically, these are four Asia-US West Coast loops, one Asia-US East Coast loop, two Asia-North Europe services and one from Asia to the Mediterranean.
