Marseille Fos increases throughput by 7%

Growth was driven by the port’s two deep-sea Fos2XL container terminals

The French port of Marseille Fos increased container traffic by 7% in 2014 to 1.18m teu, a record figure for the South Coast port.

This rise was driven by the port’s two deep-sea Fos2XL container terminals where volumes rose by 10%. At the largely shortsea terminal of Marseilles, on the other hand, throughput fell by 5%.

In 2013, throughput had grown by only 3%, according to CM’s World Top 120 Container Ports.
