HHLA Hamburg orders three new ZPMC gantry cranes

HHLA has ordered three new container gantry cranes for the Container Terminal Burchardkai.

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has ordered three new gantry cranes for the Container Terminal Burchardkai (CTB) from Chinese manufacturer ZPMC.

The new cranes will handle ships with a capacity of 20,000 teu and will have a waterside outreach of 74 m, to handle 24-wide deck stows. The investment comes as CTB is expanding its capacities for the latest generation of mega-ships.

Stefan Behn, member of the executive board of HHLA, said: “The new cranes provide us with additional capacity and flexibility. The purchase of the cranes is part of our long-term programme to adapt to ship sizes and to increase productivity. At the same time, we ensure with numerous measures a more efficient coordination of traffic – both at the quayside and at the hinterland.”
