Kalmar delivers automated straddle carriers to Port Botany

The straddle carriers in Port Botany

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, delivered automated straddle carriers to Patrick Stevedores during its recent automation of Port Botany container terminal in Sydney, Australia.

The conversion from manual operations was made in four days and the facility is now the world’s second fully-automated AutoStrad terminal, operating 45 Kalmar AutoStrads and real time control systems.

This follows the automation of Patrick’s Fisherman Island termminal in Brisbane which was converted to an automated straddle carrier operation in 2005.
