Kalmar receives new order from the Port of Tauranga

The new units join 28 Kalmar straddle carriers already at the port

Finnish manufacturer Kalmar has received an order for eight new diesel-electric straddle carriers by the Port of Tauranga, New Zealand.

The new order is part of the port’ ongoing process to gradually switch over to diesel-electric straddle carriers in attempt to reduce the environmental impact of its operations.

The new straddle carriers, which are scheduled to be delivered in 2016, will join a fleet of 28 straddle carriers manufactured by Kalmar, part of Cargotec, already in operation at the container terminal.
