CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd begin offering container reuse service in Mexico

CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd are now offering an empty container service in Mexico whereby shippers can reuse import boxes to export goods.

The reUse service, offered by the Avantida online platform, means that containers do not have to return back to a port or an assigned depot before being rerouted back to shippers. This can eliminate waiting times at depots and terminals and unnecessary mileage.

Kapil Garg, head of inland operations Latin America at CMA CGM, said: “Re-use is a completely new concept for the container transport sector in Mexico. Using an import container to go straight to your export customer without having to go back to the terminal is a refreshing advancement for planners and dispatchers.”
