Germany to re-evaluate sale of Hamburg terminal stake to COSCO

The German government is re-evaluating whether to allow COSCO Shipping Ports (CSP) to buy a 24.9% stake in one of Hamburg Hafen und Logistik AG’s (HHLA) three terminals in the Port of Hamburg.

It has emerged that Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT) was classified as critical infrastructure this year, reigniting a political controversy over Chinese state ownership of German assets.

At a press conference, an economic ministry spokesperson said: “Since the conditions have changed, we are examining what impact this will have on the situation.”
