UK government unveils clean maritime package to facilitate end-to-end green shipping

Projects include a green corridor fund and two research hubs

The UK government has announced a new package of clean maritime measures in its efforts to tackle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the UK’s transport sector and enable end-to-end green shipping.

The International Green Corridor Fund, worth a total of £1.5m (US$1.9m) and part of the overall Clean Maritime Day package, was launched in collaboration with international partners, such as Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands, aimed at making end-to-end green shipping a reality.

The budget will part-fund feasibility studies, with further funding from the international partners and industry, to explore how to achieve the commitment to decarbonise shipping lanes.
