Port of Montreal receives CAD$150m from government for Contrecœur expansion project

Canada's Transport Minister the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez (centre) announced the funding

Canada’s federal government has allocated CAD$150m (US$110m) through the National Trade Corridors Fund (NCTF) to the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) for its container terminal project in Contrecœur.

The investment aims to improve the fluidity of Canada’s supply chain and will enable the MPA to implement a new delivery model for the major expansion project on Montreal’s South Shore, taking over some of the responsibilities for carrying out the project.

In 2021, the Port of Montreal’s expansion of its activities at Contrecœur received a favourable Decision Statement from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to allow the project to proceed.
