Port of Rotterdam opens first charging station for electric trucks

Boudewijn Siemons, Port of Rotterdam Authority interim CEO and COO, and Vincent Karremans, alderman for enforcement, outdoor space and mobility of the Municipality of Rotterdam, opening the charging station

The Port of Rotterdam Authority, with the help of Truckparkings Rotterdam Exploitatie (TRE), has opened the first charging stations for electric trucks at the port, meaning up to eight vehicles can be charged simultaneously at the Bodaanweg truck park in the Waalhaven.

There are five charging points which are designed to be safe and comfortable and there is 24/7 surveillance of parking and charging bays.

Making road transport more sustainable is an important step towards CO2 neutral freight transport and contributes to a cleaner living environment, the port authority noted.
