The Port of Long Beach has launched two new incentive programmes through a US$57.4m grant to accelerate reducing emissions by supporting the purchase of zero-emissions cargo-handling equipment (CHE) and cleaner harbour craft.
The funding is part of the System-Wide Investment in Freight Transport (SWIFT), an initiative funded by the California State Transportation Agency’s Port and Freight Infrastructure Programme.
SWIFT is a transformative effort designed to support port modernisation, enhanced goods movement efficiency and reduce environmental impacts on neighbouring communities.
