The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has published the outcomes achieved after the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) met for its 83rd session from April 7-11, 2025.
The Committee finalised and approved the draft legal text for the IMO net-zero framework to be included as a chapter in Annex VI to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL).
The draft amendments to MARPOL Annex VI were circulated to member states immediately after the meeting, with a view to adoption at an extraordinary session of MEPC in October 2025.
