YILPORT deploys N4

The Turkish port of Gemport has ‘gone live’ with the latest version of Navis N4 to replace its legacy terminal operating system (TOS).  The change is part of YILPORT Holdings, the port’s owner/operator’s modernisation and development programme for Gemport, its largest container port in Turkey, and Gemlik.

YILPORT has already centralised its vessel planning, berth management and logistics operations, and soon will open the new Gemlik terminal, which includes commissioning four new MES cranes from Japan that are capable of working 18,000 teu vessels; they have an anticipated baseline productivity of 35 moves per hour/crane.   Phase One capacity will be 1m teu, with subsequent phases expected to exceed 2m teu.

According to chief technical officer, Omer Artuk, the migration from the home-grown TOS was performed solely by the company’s own employees. “In simplest terms, Navis provided the software and we did the rest,” he said.
