Study finds Chinese terminals and ships to be highly polluting

A study by Natural Resources Defence Council, a US-based environmental lobbying group, has warned against the pollution caused by Chinese ships and ports.

According to the report, most ships at Chinese ports run on bunker fuel; and port vehicles and equipment use diesel.

Both of these fuels contain high levels of diesel particulate matter (PM), nitrogen oxides (NOX) and sulphur oxides (SOX).
