Storm causes disruption in Durban

Port operations in Durban have ground to a halt as a result of a storm that has hit the South African city.

Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA), which operates the Port of Durban, has confirmed that all vessel movements at the facility have been suspended.

TNPA’s marine service team and tugboats were called to action to help move the 6,880 teu MSC Ines, which had broken loose from its moorings, become grounded on a sandbank and was blocking the channel.
