Northport receives straddle carriers

Northport, a terminal at Malaysia’s Port Klang, has received four Top Frame straddle carriers from Australian equipment manufacturers Mobicon.

The four units are being used to handle 20 ft and 40 ft containers and have a lift height of 3.6 m, a turning radius of 12.3 m, and a cycle time of two minutes.

Tom Schults, managing director of Mobicon Straddle Carriers, said: “With a tight turning circle, low wheel loads and very economical running costs the Mobicon Top Frame Machine doesn’t come with the big price tags of reach stackers, three-high straddle carriers and container forklift trucks. However it still allows the operation to stack containers two high and manoeuvre easily in tight spaces.”
