The Port of Klaipėda Port has surpassed 1m teu for the third year in a row, with a new record of nearly 1.7m teu, up 2% more than the previous year.
Overall, in tonnage, the port handled 35.5m tonnes, up 8% year-on-year, with container tonnage being the second highest contributor at 859,000 tonnes which represents an increase of 9% and 28% of the port’s total tonnage cargo handling.
Algis Latakas, director general of Klaipėda State Seaport Authority, said: “Despite the geopolitical challenges, the Port of Klaipėda has remained the first choice in the Baltic Countries. While surrounding ports are still looking for ways to overcome their difficulties, Klaipėda is showing steady growth.”
