The backlog of vessels queuing to transit the Panama Canal is currently around 120 ships, according to data from the Panama Canal Authority (ACP), which has reduced daily transits due to a prolonged dry season.
Despite reports that over 200 vessels are stuck outside the canal, the ACP’s figures show that there are 119 vessels queuing including seven Neo-Panamax ships, of which four are heading northbound and three are sailing southbound.
Under regular circumstances, up to 90 ships are waiting to transit the canal according to the ACP.
