Port of Salalah receives four new ZPMC STS cranes for US$300m expansion project

The Port of Salalah has received four of its 10 new ZPMC ship-to-shore (STS) cranes on order as part of its US$300m expansion project, which is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2025 and increase annual capacity by 20% to 6m teu.

The fully electric cranes, with the first order expected to be operational by March, are among the largest equipment of their kind with a 75 m outreach, and they can handle vessels 26 containers deep.

The models have a lifting height of 58 m above rail, 77 m total hoist height and a rated capacity under spreader of 65 tonnes, meaning the cranes can serve the largest ultra-large container vessels (ULCVs) in operation.
