Port of Gothenburg commences fairway deepening project to increase draught to 17.5 m

The Port of Gothenburg has begun its quay reinforcement and fairway deepening project which aims to expand the draught at the terminal from 13.5 m up to a maximum of 17.5 m. 

Quay reinforcement has commenced at the terminal while the fairway dredging work is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026 with the project expected to be completed in Q4 2027/Q1 2028. 

The Skandia Gateway project will enable the port to accommodate vessels with a length of 430 m and width of 65 m.
