Port of Long Beach has recorded a 7% increase in container volumes to 944,232 teu to achieve the most active July in its history, mainly due to a pause in tariffs in recent months.
Imports rose by 8% to 468,081 teu and empty containers increased by 12% to 384,824 but exports declined by 13% to 91,328 teu.
Mario Cordero, Port of Long Beach CEO, said: “Retailers are now seeing the arrival of goods that were purchased for lower costs during the temporary pause placed on tariffs and retaliatory tariffs earlier this year.
