OPDR and Boluda ally on Canary Islands service

CMA CGM group’s short sea shipping specialists Oldenburg-Portugiesische Dampfschiffs-Rhederei (OPDR) and Spanish shipping and logistics company Boluda Lines have agreed to start a strategic alliance on the Canary Islands service.

The companies claimed in a statement the new alliance will offer the fastest transit times linking Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and La Palma to the ports of Hamburg, Rotterdam and Tilbury.

Lanzarote and La Palma are linked to Tilbury, Rotterdam and Hamburg in respectively eight, nine and ten days, with Lanzarote being called twice a week and La Palma once.

The weekly connection with Fuerteventura links the island with the ports of Tilbury, Rotterdam and Hamburg in nine, ten and eleven days respectively.

According to the companies, customers in the business of fast moving goods will be the ones benefitting the most from the new alliance.

The new alliance is expected to reinforce Boluda Lines and OPDR’s activity to and from the Canary Islands.
