The Paceco Portainers built to order in Japan by Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding have an outreach of 63.5 m, good for 23-wide; shipped fully erect, the vessel carrying them had to navigate around the southern tip of Africa rather than transit the Suez Canal because of their size.
The new cranes are the first batch of an order of eight – four each for Gemlik and Gebze Terminal south east of Istanbul.
Yilport has sent its Turkish technicians to Japan for training and is using a crane simulator at Gemport to develop the skills of the local drivers.
