Hapag-Lloyd has confirmed it is to cease direct calls of its Mediterranean Pacific Service (MPS) at the Port of Portland Oregon in an effort to improve schedule integrity.
The move follows the delays and congestion at a number of US West Coast ports due to the recent protracted crippling strike action during the latter part of last year and early this year that saw 29 affected ports closed.
In response, International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), operator of Terminal 6 which handled the service, issued a statement today (8 April) expressing disappointment at the decision.
